Happy Canada Day!

In honour of Canada's 144th, and because my poor red (patriotic?) skin needs a break from the gorgeous sun, I've got some thoughts to share!

Google.ca did not have a Canada Day doodle. What's up with that?? However, the Halifax Bridge Commission is showing their love:

I've gotten burned twice this summer already! Iceland and it's lack of sunlight has tricked my skin into thinking it is safe, apparently. My roommate and I went to the beach today with a great group of people and my back looks stunning in its red glory.

Will and Kate have begun their Canada tour. I'm quite disappointed that they are skipping Nova Scotia - we're really the greatest province there is, we need some royal love. But I'm looking forward to the multitude of pictures and tweets that will come! Such a down to earth couple - I've got a big crush on the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, I'll admit it.

Dal hosted the East Coast Leadership Retreat a few weekends ago. 70 delegates from 19 universities showed up and experienced what we hope was a wicked weekend in Halifax. Jim Wilson gave a great talk on Saturday reminding us of the importance of connecting with alumni. Delicious dinners, waay too many buffaloes, and less than five hours of sleep over the weekend led to more than a little silliness. So many amazing moments throughout the weekend - some of the gems captured are below:

ECLR was during the finals
70-person Sociable
Serenaded by a choir :)
I forget what this game was called...
Crabs are here!

Peggy's Cove
Roommate love!
There are tall ships, and small ships, and big ships, but the best ships are friendships
Rolling down the citadel. Again, no big deal.
One thing I've decided: Wherever I live after I graduate must have an amazing view. In first year, I lived in res with a view of construction and a chemical storage building. In second year I had a top floor flat, with a skylight - the only thing I could see was clouds! In fall of third year we had a basement flat, so I could see all the cracks in the asphalt in great detail. For my fourth year, I've got a view of the neighbour's house only two feet away. So, a view is absolutely mandatory.

Now it's time to head back out to the sun - with two months of rain, Halifax has decided to smile this weekend with stunning heat and sun. :)
